Gala Verde!

The USGBC South Florida chapter's
2010 Gala Verde LEEDership Awards Program
went off without a hitch! It was a huge success and attended
by nearly 450 sustainable building pioneers!

The event, located at Pier 66 in Fort Lauderdale, Florida,
provided attendees to recognize and honor those
outstanding projects, inspriational businesses, dedicated individuals
and instrumental Chapter members who are leading the way
to a more sustainable environment.

The Seagate Hotel & Spa

AMC's Seagate Hotel & Spa project in Delray Beach
was among the finalists in the New Construction category!

Jellies Bar at the Seagate

The hotel is a beautiful, luxurious boutique destination
located in the heart of resort town Delray Beach.
And yes, it is LEED Certified!

Lobby

What makes this project unique among others is that the owners decided
to pursue certification half way through the construction phase.

Junior Suite

Anderson-Moore Construction Project Manager and LEED AP, Jim Sopher,
was a key player in assisting the owners
with the decision while keeping within budget.

The Presidential Suite

The Seagate is a perfect example of how most any project can achieve
LEED Certification with careful planning and professional guidance.

The Spa at the Seagate

AMC was a proud sponsor of Gala Verde, and is looking forward to the 2011 event.
Planning for next year's Gala is already underway!
If you are interested in volunteering, sponsorships, donating silent auction items,
advertising the gala program, or anything else,
please contact Lee Cooke, the Chapter's Executive Director.

Congratulations
to all the finalists and award winners!

The Miami Heat, Riviera Beach, and Ground Breaking

What does the Miami Heat basketball team and Riviera Beach have in common?  Aside from the fact that they're both in Florida, they're both "home" to Chris Bosh!  Chris joined the Miami Heat in a much publicized battle between Miami and Cleveland.  After much ado, speaking with his mother, and his friend Dwayne Wade, Chris made the decision to join the Miami Heat!

How does Riviera Beach fit into this picture?  Chris' mother, Freida Bosh, resides in Riviera Beach and attends Avenue S Church of Christ, as does many family friends.  The congregation is thrilled about Chris' return to Florida as it makes their ground breaking that much sweeter!

The church suffered a loss in 2004 when their worship facility was destroyed by the numerous hurricanes that blew through the region.  A new building has been in the works ever since and the day has finally come to break ground and begin construction.  AMC was awarded the project and was happy to participate in the festivities!

The congregation celebrated the event with gold shovels and hardhats,

Lots of food,

and singing and praise by The Chosen Few!

Judi Schumacher, Vice President of AMC, joined in the worship service and ground breaking ceremonies.

Mike Dillistin, AMC Project Manager, greeted church members, putting a face to a name.

Pastor Jonathan Young and wife Stacy have been praying for this day!

The completed structure will constist of a 14,478 square foot church including sanctuary, classrooms, fellowship hall and offices.  The construction schedule calls for 8 months of work followed by years of praise and worship!

Congratulations, Avenue S Church of Christ!!!

AMC Supports the Community and Our Clients!

Anderson-Moore Construction Corp. is unarguably a leader in the South Florida construction industry.  The partners have been in business for over 30 years and have helped construct some of the major structures in and around Palm Beach County.  AMC has a portfolio of repeat clients that testifies to a stellar reputation.  Our clients readily support us with their letters of recommendation and word-of-mouth referrals.

It's a reciprocal relationship, though, as AMC also supports our clients,
as well as our community!

Being one of the first general contractors in the state of Florida to embrace the movement toward sustainable building, AMC joined the US Green Building Council (USGBC) as an active participant.  We employ numerous LEED APs to assist clients with value added services when researching green building inititives and constructing LEED Certified structures.  We also provide in-house training and testing assistance to employees who desire LEED certification.  Additionally, Judith Schumacher, Vice President of AMC, chairs the USGBC Palm Beach Programs Commitee, creating educational programs for the group as well as the public.

Anderson-Moore Construction is also a proud supporter of the Peggy Adams Animal Rescue League / Humane Society Guardian Angel Program , as well as the annual Fur Ball fundraiser and additional events throughout the year.

Another community organization supported by AMC is the Boys and Girls Club, an innovative nonprofit organization providing necessary services to children throughout the country and in our own neighborhoods.  Judith Schumacher, an active member of the West Palm Beach club, founded and chairs the CLICK program, Corporate Level Investment in Community Kids.  Judi noticed that the West Palm Beach Club, specifically, lacks ongoing corporate support for its program.  Although the club recently received a generous donation for a new facility, there was no source for ongoing funding.  Judi identified the need, organized a group of volunteers, and began creating a marketing initiative to tackle this need.  Thus, CLICK was born!
