The Miami Heat, Riviera Beach, and Ground Breaking

What does the Miami Heat basketball team and Riviera Beach have in common?  Aside from the fact that they're both in Florida, they're both "home" to Chris Bosh!  Chris joined the Miami Heat in a much publicized battle between Miami and Cleveland.  After much ado, speaking with his mother, and his friend Dwayne Wade, Chris made the decision to join the Miami Heat!

How does Riviera Beach fit into this picture?  Chris' mother, Freida Bosh, resides in Riviera Beach and attends Avenue S Church of Christ, as does many family friends.  The congregation is thrilled about Chris' return to Florida as it makes their ground breaking that much sweeter!

The church suffered a loss in 2004 when their worship facility was destroyed by the numerous hurricanes that blew through the region.  A new building has been in the works ever since and the day has finally come to break ground and begin construction.  AMC was awarded the project and was happy to participate in the festivities!

The congregation celebrated the event with gold shovels and hardhats,

Lots of food,

and singing and praise by The Chosen Few!

Judi Schumacher, Vice President of AMC, joined in the worship service and ground breaking ceremonies.

Mike Dillistin, AMC Project Manager, greeted church members, putting a face to a name.

Pastor Jonathan Young and wife Stacy have been praying for this day!

The completed structure will constist of a 14,478 square foot church including sanctuary, classrooms, fellowship hall and offices.  The construction schedule calls for 8 months of work followed by years of praise and worship!

Congratulations, Avenue S Church of Christ!!!
